On Saturday 17 September at 14:00, we invite you to a live podcast at the Kittelsen Museum! The Swedish podcast "När man talar om trollen" will be visiting us.
This is Sweden's largest podcast about folklore, mythology and traditions. Oknytt's Lars Wahlström and Tommy Kuusela, PhD in religious history, discuss Nordic creatures, myths and legends in a light-hearted way. Eva Boström also brings old legends and texts to life with her inspiring storytelling in the podcast.
At the Kittelsen Museum, Lars and Tommy will talk to our museum educator Lasse H. Bjørnland and curator Sverre Følstad about several exciting topics. Among other things, we'll be comparing folklore about mining in Sweden and Norway. Is there something similar to "Gruvfrun" in Norway? Are there trolls in Swedish mines? What supernatural beliefs exist about mining in general?
We'll also talk about Theodor Kittelsen and compare him with Norwegian and Swedish artists of the same period. What role did folk tales and folklore play for these artists? Why did so many Swedish artists go to Norway to paint landscapes?
As you can imagine, it's going to be a packed episode when our Swedish friends come to visit.
