The museum is one of Norway's most visited tourist attractions.

The foundation has reached several milestones we are proud of. Here are some of them:

In the summer of 2018, we celebrated the museum's first 50 years! The anniversary year brought great honours to the museum:

  • In April, we were named Museum of the Year 2018 by the Norwegian Museums Association.
  • In June, Director Tone Sinding Steinsvik received the EU Cultural Heritage Prize / Europa Nostra Award 2018. Among the 29 award winners, Tone Sinding Steinsvik, as one of seven, was also awarded the prestigious "Grand Prix" award for special achievement. The award ceremony took place in Berlin.
  • In the autumn of 2018, NRK showed the documentary "Blaafarveværket - Litt galskap - mye begeistring".

The blue colour mill will never be finished, there will always be something new happening here
