Rich Whitsun menu at Blaafarveværket and Koboltgruvene
Whitsun is an eventful weekend at the museum and this year is no exception. Here's an overview of everything happening this weekend, 4-6 June.
The entire museum is open from 11am to 5pm all weekend, including Monday, Whit Monday.
Down at Blaafarveværket, you can join a guided tour of the exhibition on Sunday "Between Two Worlds" on Sunday at 12.30 pm. It is included in the ordinary entrance fee. There will also be a Sunday concert in Glasshytten at 2 pm with Oslo 14. Oslo 14 is a professional improvising vocal ensemble that was started and is led by Elin Rosseland, run by the East Norwegian Jazz Centre. Their speciality is art music and acoustic free improvisation.
At Koboltgruvene there are guided mine tours every day. That means the following menu:
Historical mining tour: Saturday, Sunday and Monday at 12, 14 and 16.
Children's Mine Tour: Saturday, Sunday and Monday at 13 and 15.
Mining safari: Sunday at 12.30 pm
During Pentecost, we also have a special offer for children in the Children's Workshop at Gruvetråkka. From 11.30am to 3pm on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, children can get help to test their carpentry skills and maybe learn a trick or two. The offer is free of charge. We also have building kits for birdhouses and stilts. If the children want to make this and take it home, it costs 50,- to be paid in Gruvekroa.
There will be a lecture at Nyfossum on Monday 2 Pentecost at 15.00. Ingar Mørkestøl Gundersen from the Museum of Cultural History will talk about the rune stone "City stones" which is exhibited in the timber barn. The town stone dates from the 3rd-5th centuries and originates from the Nordre Bye farm in Sigdal, just over a mile from Nyfossum.
Otherwise, of course, all cafés, shops, exhibitions and Barnas Bondegård are open 11-17.
Welcome to Pentecost at Blaafarveværket!
