Kittelsen Museum, blue pearl and mine tour

A programme that starts with a visit to the world of Theodor Kittelsen. The Kittelsen Museum at Koboltgruvene houses one of the world's most comprehensive collections of Kittelsen's works, including images of the goblin, trolls and elves. Our museum guides will take the students on a dialogue-based tour.

After the Kittelsen Museum, the tour goes into the Cobalt Mines. Here the pupils are taken on an exciting journey through 122 years of mining, the history of cobalt and discover how blue colour can be made from a grey stone. Even in the summer, the Cobalt Mines are kept at around 5 degrees centigrade, so remember to bring good clothes. Everyone can borrow fleece jackets and go home when entering the mines.

The pupils will then carry out an old chemical experiment to make cobalt blue colour (a blue pearl) from ore from the Cobalt Mines. Our guided tour is adapted to the individual age level.

Suitable for: 1st - 3rd grade.
Duration: 3 hours + break.
Price: NOK 190,- per student.
