The Smeltery
In the heart of Blaafarveværket towers the unique and beautiful Smeltery. One of the Nordic countries' largest buildings made with the half timbered technique Built in 1779 as a smeltery, the building played a key role in the production of cobalt blue color. Today, it not only symbolizes our history but is also our “great hall” and serves as the site for large events and concerts.
Come and experience “From gray to blue”, an exhibit which demonstrates the production process, from cobalt ore to finished blue pigment
The north room is used for serving smaller groups, meetings and such.
In the main room we have free concerts every Sunday through the summer. Local choirs, jazz and classical music. We can also have conferences here and serve dinner for 300 people in these historical surroundings.
