Modum Janitsjar is based in Vikersund in Modum municipality and has members from all over the local area. The band originates from Vikersund Musikkorps and Snarum Musikkorps, which were merged in 1988. The band organises two to three concerts a year, one of which is here at Blaafarveværket.

In addition, for 22 years the band has held a New Year's Eve concert on the first Saturday in January, featuring a well-known guest artist - this year the guest artist was Christel Alsos. This year's guest artist was Christel Alsos. The regular presenter at the New Year's Concert is NRK veteran Arild Erikstad. The New Year's concert in 2027 is on 9 January. Then the band is lucky enough to be visited by Knut Marius Djupvik.

Every year, the band also participates in the Norwegian Championship for Janissary Bands in Trondheim. This year, they were lucky enough to come 11th and win the 1st prize of honour in their division. On 1 and 17 May, the corps is out on the streets, helping to add colour to these days in the municipality.

Chairman Bjørn Bogetvedt

Bjørn Bogetvedt is best known as a euphonium player in the Royal Norwegian Marine Band (KNMM), where he served from 1984 until he retired as commander in 2017. In 2000-02, he was on leave from his work in the Royal Norwegian Navy to serve as principal at Kongsberg culture school where he was also employed for several years as a brass educator. In 2017, he started as conductor of the music troupe in His Majesty the King's Guard, where he finished in the autumn of 2022. Throughout his career, he has conducted a number of bands and orchestras, both amateur and professional, which he is still doing (2026). He has also conducted a number of events for chamber ensembles, big bands and orchestras. Bjørn was the first person in Norway to study euphonium at the Norwegian Academy of Music (1980-84). From 1979 to early 1981 he was a chorister in the male choir Vrakpant in Vazelina Bilopphøggers.
